For waitlisted people

Hey, everybody.

I was waitlisted and looking at statistics of their wait list options. (<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showpost.php?p=872312&postcount=359%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showpost.php?p=872312&postcount=359</a> ) shows the stats from 1999-2004 and I added 2005's stats.

This makes me wonder if, given that zero waitlisted kids were admitted last year compared to 52, 33, 49, etc admitted women the years before, I/you/we have a chance at all this year. I don't know if they have a better idea of yield this year or it really is that

This year our applicant pool was the largest, most highly qualified, and most diverse group in the College’s history. Admission to Mount Holyoke has never been more competitive.

Looking at the numbers are depressing me...but I think I'm going to write Ms. Okay an email and ask her about the wait list option and when the door slams shut for waitlisted students...

Two years ago, a friend of mine was able to get off the Mount Holyoke waitlist with some help from her counselor. :) (Of course, in the end she decided to go to another school...)

I just saw this, thought it was interesting, and decided to bump!

I read online that this year is the biggest in terms of applicants per school. And that the recession has pushed students to apply to more than the usual 6 to 8 schools, hoping to get better FA's. If true, won't this translate into bigger possibilities for the wait-listed?
