For waitlisted students

So you’ve heard back??

No, my son was actually accepted to Hamilton back in April

I talked to them a week ago and it didn’t sound like they were too far into the process. From what I heard it sounds like if they take anyone off the waitlist it’ll probably be in June. I haven’t heard back either, so I wouldn’t fret.

@Hamkidmaybe Also on another note, even if you don’t get in, I wouldn’t worry. I was pretty hard set on some schools I didn’t get into and now I am just looking forward to George Washington (where I am committed right now). It is easy to get hung up on one school but ya can’t look at it that way anymore, I’ve learned. Look at it like this: get excited about whatever school you are committed to right now. Chances are you will love it there, and even if you don’t, transferring is always a viable option. And if the chances play out in your favor, you may get accepted into Hamilton off the waitlist. But you have to look at it as a slim possibility, that way if you don’t get in you will be over it and if you do get in you will be even more psyched. Trust me, I went through all the feelings I assume you are feeling right now, we are just at different steps in the process. I wish you luck, and don’t worry.

Best of luck to everyone waiting to hear; I’m sure it won’t be long before there’s some waitlist movement.

My S recently withdrew from Hamilton – a school he and I both LOVED – to attend Northwestern. I still feel a twinge of regret about it, but he’s very excited about his new choice and the extensive resources they offer in one of is primary areas of interest.

My S didn’t send any updates to any of the three schools he was waitlisted at, primarily because he was content with going to Hamilton. It made me wonder how much doing this really helps. I suspect it’s more meaningful at the smaller LACs and less so at the universities.

Has anyone gotten in off the waiting list yet at Hamilton?

Not yet, you?

As I posted a week ago, my son was accepted in April and will be attending Hamilton. It seems a little odd that we have not yet heard of any movement off the wait list, although it appears that there are a couple of other small liberal arts colleges in the same position (e.g., Bowdoin, and perhaps Colby).

I wonder if Hamilton is over subscribed, and if so, by how many students?

According to this NY Times article,

Hamilton does not plan to take anyone from the waitlist this year. If Hamilton hasn’t contacted you yet, I wouldn’t give up hope. The college that I was waitlisted at contacted me right away in early May, as they knew they wouldn’t be taking anyone from the waitlist. There has to be a reason that Hamilton hasn’t contacted anyone yet. I would assume that they’re waiting until later in the summer so they know their exact enrollment numbers before they take anyone off the waitlist.

I emailed a Hamilton admission officer, and he said that while they don’t “anticipate” letting anyone off the wait list, they’re holding the wait list “in case the situation changes.”
