I just wanna know; so that i could get some ideas and start planning my budget.

thanks

I got 4,000 in what I think is free aid…the rest I have to get from the parents and stafford loans :(

My free aid was around $18,000. My EFC is like $60 or something.

Edit: UCSD.

$18000? From which school, if you don’t mind me asking?

which schools offered you guys this much?

UCSD preliminary gift aid=$18,625

Awesome. So those of us with low EFC’s should be expecting similar aid offers from other UC’s? Unless that aid is primarily scholarships exclusively from UCSD.

how accurate is the preliminary aid from what we will actually be offered

yeah if you have a low EFC u can expect a nice award.

UCSD gave me a $3000 scholarship for Fall 2010

UCSD preliminary gift aid= $18,595

Family EFC= 30

Do any of you know if the final gift amount usually varies?

it depends on what Cal grant you qualify for and if you will receive a full pell grant.

Are these numbers yearly gifts or for the duration?

yearly, Cal grants and pell grants are renewable.

Cool, thanks. I didn’t realize grants paid that much.

I need alot since ill be out of state…

@hitboy I don’t think you qualify for Calgrants if you’re OOS. They probably make up at least half of people’s awards.

Nothing for free, it said my total aid is 0 dollars? But it did suggest a few loans. It’s weird to not be offered ANY aid when my dad’s business is on the verge of going under =o. The economy is in bad shape =/

^ well what was your EFC?

$18625 for me, too.

But just in case anyone is wondering, UCSD is only offering $2773 (for me, anyway) - the rest is Pell and possible Cal Grants.

$22,280 for me
