Forbes gives USNWR list a D

Except for illustrating an incredible lack of care by Forbes, the correction makes little difference. That Forbes/CCAP utter garbage merely stinks a bit less.

All interesting viewpoints, but let's not ignore the obvious. Forbes is not committed to the most sound college ranking methodology or to providing college-bound students the best possible data on which to make a college choice. Forbes is looking to sell magazines. USNWR's annual rankings have been one of the great magazine sales success stories, and lots of magazines would like a piece of that action. By the same token, CNN is not committed to the fairest, most objective coverage of the Presidential primaries so that American voters can make the most informed decisions possible. They're looking to drag out this Democratic slugfest as long as possible in order to boost their ratings. Capitalism and democracy have some great upsides, but the downside is the constant necessity to have your BS detector at the ready.

Who cares about damn college rankings, USNWR , or Forbes. Forbes provides their own list of rankings for other lifestyle categories that have faulty critieria as well. FIND THE COLLEGE THAT FITS YOU! yes, the rankings do help to feel out which colleges you could actually get into grades-wise. But if you have a 4.0, you shouldn't only focus on the Top 10 schools according to USNWR. You should focus on the Top 50 and find which ones of thos 50 you would be happiest at. In the end, it's about your own happiness, not USNWR or Forbes
