I have a couple questions about Forbes Hall:

How many people apply to live in Forbes, and how many are accepted to live there?

Is the whole dorm the "UHC Living Learning Community," or is that only a specific floor(s)?

How does Pitt decide who gets to live in Forbes?

Unless the rules changed this year, the honors dorm is not synonymous with a living learning community. Last year, S read the brochure about the various living learning communities, wasn’t interested, applied to live in Forbes Hall and got accepted. As far as I know none of his friends from Forbes Hall are members of a living learning community. I can’t answer your other questions, though. Good luck!

The whole dorm is an honors dorm, but not a living/learning like SPACE or whatever the international learning community in Sutherland is called. DD opted for the learning community (the one in Sutherland) freshman year and regretted it almost immediately. Most of the other students were humanities majors and she had no one to bounce questions off of or to study with. She opted for honors housing sophomore year and is much happier with that arrangement.

Here’s official info, including numbers of resident, etc. I believe there is also an online tour of each residence hall on the main residence hall webpage.

Last year at the visit day for The Honors College, which was in the spring sometime, the tour included Forbes and the Towers. They don’t request honors housing until May.

My son received a note with the dates of the Honors Days
