forced schedules?

In the college of engineering are you required to take these classes as a freshman (1st semester):

Engineering Math (4 crs)
Science (Chemistry or Physics; based on academic interest and advanced placement credit) (4 crs)
Intro to Computer Programming or Intro to Engineering (ENGRI) (3 crs)
First-Year Engineering Seminar (ENGRG 1050) (1 cr)
First-Year Writing Seminar (3 crs)
Physical Education (1 cr)
Academic Excellence Workshops (optional) (1 cr each)

i want to transfer out of coe asap; can i take different classes instead of these? how does class picking work?!?!?!?

you can take different classes. You’ll be pre-enrolled in some of the classes above but you can change it during the add drop period during orientation.

Why do you want to transfer out of engineering without even trying it though?

you’re right, i suppose i SHOULD give it a chance. I just was never really interested in the idea, and i’m not really a hand on, technical person.
thanks for the information!

*** @ transfer out of COE

lol is this a joke? You were never a technical person yet you applied to engineering and paid the deposit?

are you looking to transfer into a less technical field for a hard science (bio, physics, etc)?

he mentioned in another topic that he applied for math, but at one point got a call asking if he was willing to be considered for the College of Engineering.

just curious, wouldn’t cornell know that he didn’t get into CAS and was put into engineering, and not allow him to transfer in

they would know that, but it wouldn’t disqualify him from an internal transfer.

However if you were interested in Math I would at least suggest looking into the following two engineering majors Operations Research and Computer Science.
