Since when do you hear this topic a lot, but my school is literally forcing me to use my AP credits for Biology. I want to retake lower-division Bio, but they wont let me simply because I got a 5....They did this for Calculus as well. This is really ridiculous, but I am planning on taking 3 or 4 upper division bio classes to make up for this. Just wanted to know if this is okay for med school apps...I heard med school adcoms get a big frown on their face when they see AP credit in place for required science classes.

You're right. Most med schools want you to take a year of gen bio. Also, AP Bio is not enough for preparing you well for the MCAT's bio portion. You should really take a year of gen bio. Try convincing your school to let you take gen bio by explaining them how med schools don't like AP credits in place of med school requirement.

Trying to convince your school probably won't work. Taking upper-div bio classes will be fine for fulfilling the pre-med requirement. They just want to see that you can do a college level biology course.
