Forced to wait until next year for my ED decision

I applied ED to a school where results were announced 12/15.
Majority got their decisions, but I didn't. My counselor called them on the 16th, and they said they were behind and still making decisions; also that I should get my decision by the 17th.
However, I didn't. I called again yesterday, and the lady told me I should be getting my decision by today. But I didn't. I called today before their office was closed, and was told that "decisions were already released on the 15th or 16th." When I said mine was unavailable, the lady again told me to "wait until tomorrow morning". But after talking to my counselor, we agreed to call again, and then I was told the office of admissions was already closed at 4pm, and that I should wait until January 2011 for my decision.

I would not have been upset with a rejection. It was a reach school after all, but it just makes me angry that they are making me almost an extra MONTH for a decision. Even they said that my application was complete on time and there was no reason for me (and apparently some others) being delayed, so there was no mistake on my part. Is this a common thing to be delayed for so long?

I’ve never heard of that happening before. I’m sure it is very stressful for you. You should probably treat it as a rejection and bust your butt to get the rest of your apps off by January 1st. Hopefully you’ll get some good news in January.

Good luck.

Thanks sherpa. I think it’s a rejection too, since if I was accepted, I doubt it would even take them this long to just tell me.

Buuuumpppp… has this happened to anybody else???
