echoing the above poster, how do I see if I was awarded merit or need based scholarships?
When my son received his acceptance there was no merit listed so he emailed a counselor to find out if that was definite. As much as he likes the school, we’re not expecting to get need based aid so merit was key to attending. He received an email back saying he will hear about both merit and financial aid by Feb 1st. She said just because he didn’t receive it in his letter doesn’t mean he won’t be receiving any. So hopefully that’s good news.
Received the acceptance letter in the mail today!
@heyojano Do you know of anyone who has received the National Merit Scholarship yet (the full-tuition one)? I assumed that they must give out quite a few of them each year, unless that has changed this year. Last year Fordham had 44 National Merit Scholars attend between the two campuses. That number comes from the National Merit annual report and does not include finalists. That is very high given Fordham’s academic ranking. Georgetown only had 32 Scholars, NYU only had 12, and Villanova had just 8. They must have been doing something financially to recruit so many more than would seem “natural.”
I have a son with stats similar to yours and I really thought he would have a better than 50/50 chance of getting the full tuition scholarship. He too only received the Dean’s Scholarship. I’m grateful, but I don’t think that brings Fordham into the category of what we can afford, unless need-based financial aid really surprises me. Do you think there is a chance that they haven’t awarded those scholarships yet? I wrote the admissions office late in the day on Friday and haven’t heard back yet.
Accepted EA at Rose hill
@candjsdad I wish I could be of more help, but I was actually wondering the same thing. I’ve seen threads from earlier years where people said they got the National Merit Scholarship either right at the time of their admission or a couple days later. However, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone in this year’s thread who got the scholarship (or the Presidential scholarship for that matter), which makes me think that they’re holding out a bit longer to award those this year for some reason (maybe until all the regular decision applicants are in as well?). Hopefully that’s the case because I think I fit all the criteria for the National Merit Scholarship, and I could really use a full ride. Keep me posted if the admissions office gets back to you!
National merit scholarships are awarded. Presidential scholarship will have to wait until February.
I received the National Merit Scholarship, very tempting!
Has anyone heard about Rose Hill Honors yet?
I am concerned about the merit at Fordham. I was accepted to the Global Business Honors Program but have not been notified of any merit scholarship to go along with this. I would think that an honors program would come along with merit but not seeing anything has me a little worried. Any current Fordham students, parents, or alumni who could shed some light on this?
Son got global business honor and national merit both. Merit offer is with the admission letter. Honor offer came pne day later by email from the business school.
Would the people who got into the business honor program mind sharing stats???
my D received her acceptance along with the Semifinalist scholarship of full tuition and guaranteed housing.
My S received his acceptance at Rose Hill along with the National Merit Semifinalist scholarship for full tuition and guaranteed housing. He did not receive any information regarding the Honors program at Rose Hill. I know that last year there was mention that the college accepted more national merit students than they had spots for in the Honors program. I see on this thread that some of Lincoln Center students have received invitation to their Honors program, has anyone from Rose Hill received an invitatation? Congratulations and good luck to all here.
Has anyone been accepted with an SAT score in the 1200s?
I was accepted and received the National Merit Scholarship as well as guaranteed housing.
SAT (old): 2200
SAT (new): 1440
GPA: 4.3
Anyone else who got the National Merit Scholarship willing to post your scores and GPA? (and maybe state or region applying from?)
Congratulations to everyone accepted!
candjsdad: D’s ACT 34, I think SAT 1480, GPA 4.8, Louisiana. Had great LOR’s, research, and other EC’s as well to give her a really strong application, if that helps.
Accepted to Lincoln Center on Thursday! 1450 SAT, 2nd in class of about 160, no word on financial aid yet. Lots of APs and academic ECs. From MidWest.
SAT 1580, SaT suject 800 and 780, from NY.
