Fordham 2021 ED/EA Thread

For anybody who’s curious about deferred stats (Lincoln Center for Neuroscience/Pre-Health): I applied to LC as EA and I was deferred until Regular Decision with a 3.7/4.0 and a 27 ACT Composite (31 on English and 30 on Reading). Although I know my GPA and score aren’t exactly the best, I actually work full time in the medical field, I volunteered at a local hospital, I was in HOSA and GSA. I know there’s plenty of other kids who do more extracurriculars and AP classes than I do, but having a full time job is a completely different experience so I kind of figured it would help me. Fordham wasn’t really on my radar since I’m definitely not interested in the city for undergrad, but honestly I applied to see if I would get in. My first choice is Syracuse, which is a little bit easier to get into, so fingers crossed for the mid-January decision!!!

For future applicants:
I was accepted into the Gabelli School of Business at Lincoln Center. So, Global Business. I also have guaranteed housing for all 4 years!
Intended Concentration: Global Finance and Business Economics
UW GPA: 3.7
W GPA: 3.98
ACT: 30C
33E
30R
25M
31S

I also had lots of EC and Leadership. I don’t think i sent any teacher recs, just counselor. I’m also a Hispanic Male that travels a lot, which may have played a role in my acceptance as well.

Curious question does Fordham later send a letter in the mail? I was accepted last month, but haven’t received one.

@cathJR Yes, they do. I do not think (not positive) that it tells you any additional information besides what you already know, but there is indeed a letter.

Accepted to Lincoln Center with a full tuition scholarship from the national Hispanic recognition program. Also offered a spot in the honors program, which has only about 15 kids per campus.

SAT 2060, gpa 4.3

@doody1425 congrats! Did you get that today? I have a friend whose waiting to hear about national Hispanic recognition.

@jnkam24 no, i heard on the EA day everyone else did. it came in the same letter as my acceptance

Just a heads up for rose hill applicants, an email from admissions told me that we will hear about the honors program sometime in April

Can we send in housing deposits before accepting the decisions to ensure good rooms?

Attended an Accepted Students reception with S yesterday hosted by the President. It was very impressive & the other admitted students seem amazing. Most impressive were the up-to-date numbers given by a VP who is on the AdCom: approx 19550 EA/ED applications (most ever); Mean HS GPA for admitted EA/ED applicants is 3.8/4.0; Mean SAT of EA/ED admits was 1392 (new SAT). Total # of applications received this year is 44,000.

I wish he had spoken to admit rates, but we’ll have to wait on that.

It’s clear Fordham has become more & more selective in the past few years – so good job & congrats to all who were admitted!

Heres an update from the Admissions office on scholarships. They told me when I called that the only people they told about their scholarships are national merit finalists and people who received the presidential scholarships, which I think is their 2 largest awards. They said the rest will come out in February.

Real talk: has anyone else suddenly received an estimated financial aid amount under my.fordham>financial aid>messages? If so, does anybody know if that’s a definite or just a random calculation?

@hamandcheezy No – no FA info or message on my portal.

Actually, my daughter received her scholarship information with her admission. It was not the presidential or national merit scholarships but we were very happy nevertheless. She was ED so maybe that is why.

Call me clueless, call me stupid, but i need to share! my D accepted EA and we were excited for early Feb to see if she would get any MERIT MONEY. She also applied RD to JHU and they started sending her emails about “don’t forget to submit your CSS profile by Feb 15”. She asks “Mom, what’s the CSS profile?” I respond “boy, sounds vaguely familiar”. So we found out YESTERDAY. Basically a more in depth (tax return details, mortgage and income questions etc) FAFSA that is required for some schools to process financial aid and in Fordham’s case - MERIT MONEY!! So because we will be filing the CSS profile late (way past the EA CSS profile submission deadline of 11/14/2016) we will not find out about MERIT MONEY until early April. super bummed and lesson learned. hope they don’t run out of $.

so for those NOT in the know ( maybe it was just me!) find out if your schools applied to need a CSS profile filled out and their deadlines. If JHU didn’t send a reminder email, i seriously would have let the Fordham deadline of FEB 10 slip and we wouldn’t have had a chance for MERIT MONEY.

lesson learned. yes, i know, the CSS stuff and deadlines were on the admission congrats letter but i stopped reading at Congrats-lol.

It is frustrating to navigate the maze of the Financial Aid process! We discovered the requirement of the CSS Profile for my older son who attends Syracuse University. I also learned that some schools require it and others do not.
As a reference that might be helpful to others, here is a link to the list on the College Board web site. The next lesson I have learned is some school require even more documentation! Good Luck to your daughter! Mine was also admitted EA to Fordham.

Did anyone who applied ED get notification of merit aid without submitting CSS?

My daughter applied EA and we had submitted the FAFSA and the CSS Profile. We learned of Merit Aid with the acceptance letter based on being a NMSF, so not sure if it was based on CSS Profile. The asked for some clarification on a couple of items I had to fax to the school.

So it appears that only students who went ED or rec’d National Merit or Presidential scholarships have heard about their financial package. All other EAs will, I believe, hear by Feb 1st.

I just filed by CSS and was admitted EA. Does that mean I won’t find out about any merit aid until early april?
