Fordham Chances???

I'm currently a senior at a private school in Florida. I have a 3.2 gpa and a 1700 on the SAT, 600 reading, 520 math, 580 writing. I know my scores are pretty low compared to Fordham's average, but I have a lot of AP and honors classes, work experience, great extracurriculars, and an interesting essay. I want to double major in Communications and International Relations at Fordham.

AP classes:
1. AP Human Geography
2. AP European History
3. AP US History
4. AP Language
5. AP Government
I have also taken 5 honors classes.

Work Experience:
1. Human Resource/ Customer service intern every summer at a telecommunications company
2. Marketing and Sales intern at a fashion company during the school year

Extracurriculars:
1. Founder and President of a women's rights club at my school
2. Peer counselor(which is a selective organization at my school)
3. Member of Fighting All Cancers together club
4. Public Relations rep of community service club
5. Volunteer at my local museum
6. Fellow for the 2012 Obama Campaign
7. I have played Varsity softball at my school for 2 years.

Essay:
My essay is about how I just met my father this year and how it has made me a better person, it's not a sob story at all.

Fordham: Reach

I’d also say reach. Math and writing is a little low. GPA needs to also be higher. What is your weighted?

It’s in the 3.3-3.4 range don’t know exactly. I have a 3.4 this semester. I didn’t think my writing score was too low, but my math score is awful. A kid from my school just got in and he has similar stats, but not that many extracurriculars. My school has a 100 kids per grade and 7 people have already enrolled in ivy league schools so it’s a pretty rigorous. Does being from FL help at all?

Not really, as it is a large. Actually, it depends on which part of FL you’re from. I’m from FL as well, applied recently, and am waiting to hear back from Fordham as well. I find it weird that your weighted is not that much higher if you’ve taken many AP and honors classes. Are you sure that’s your weighted?

My school only adds .66 for ap’s and .33 for honors. Some schools give a whole point for ap’s and .5 for honors. People have told me that since Fordham has so many kids from the tri-state area that they like to accept kids from FL. I’m from South Florida so hopefully that helps.
