Fordham Class of 2013/2017

an email saying, “The Committee on Admission regards you as a truly outstanding applicant and has asked that I … advise you now – in advance of the formal notification date – that you will be offered admission to Fordham University for the Fall 2013 semester. Congratulations! …”. I received it yesterday, Dec. 4.

Congratulations.

Did the letter or email actually state that you were accepted to the Gabelli School of Business?

I received an email on Dec. 3rd; my application was submitted EA but I had forgot to send them my SAT scores (oversight, applied to 10 schools and Fordham was the only school I did not use common application), so SATs were not sent until mid-November when they sent me a note.

My D got the acceptance email on Dec. 3rd!
Application was sent on Oct. 30 through Common App with fee waiver.
Gabelli School of Business (that’s what she applied to but the e-mail does not mention the specifics)

@vinceraia,

no, the email didn’t include any specifics. I applied to Gabelli through CommonApp.

I received acceptance on 11/19 by Email and received a mail posted on 11/20/2012. This is the first decision (out of nine schools) I have recieved so far!

Email did not confirm which program DS was admitted to but the letter did.

dowzerw, What program was your son admitted to at LC? My daughter’s email and letter both (arriving before Thanksgiving) didn’t mention anything about the Lincoln Center campus (though that’s where she applied) nor her major, which will likely change anyway from psychology to Spanish. Both notifications focused on the early filing of FAFSA, which we submitted, though there won’t be any need-based aid for us (even though we feel we need it! :slight_smile: )

@My3Daughters
Did you use the services of SFAS company they are suggesting? Is it free?

Yes, ggawesome, I did use it, it’s free and they sent the info to the other 7 schools to which my daughter applied, as well as to Fordham. Took about 20 minutes on the phone – there’s a checklist of information to have ready to relay.

Thanks for the response!

has anybody received one of these early emails who submitted an application after the original deadline (due to hurricane sandy, the EA deadline was moved to November 8).

@Barnard
I submitted my app on Nov 7th and got my acceptance Nov 19th. Sorry =/

@Paramitas
could I ask you your stats?

Awkwardcreation: Congratulations! Did you get your acceptance via email or snail mail?

I received snail mail today saying “we wanted to let you know now that you will be offered admission to Fordham University.” I applied to Gabelli, so does this meant that they just didn’t include the specifics or that I wasn’t accepted? They also included information about the “Early Award Program” which basically seems to be offering help for completing the FAFSA. Is anyone else in this situation?

I got the same thing on both e-mail and snail mail. I should be a “Acceptance”.

akwardcreation, it is so reassuring to know that Fordham is the kind of place a student can feel free to disclose a personal challenge. Our guidance counselor advised kids not to ever mention medication, 504s, or any kind of medical/mental health issue until after being accepted to a college. With so many teenagers today experiencing the trigger effects of school related stress, it is comforting to know that Fordham embraces the whole student.
