Javaid:

By IUB I assume you mean Indiana University at Bloomington. If so, then I concur in your selection. Its a fine school and frankly, its good to go away to school in my honest opinion. If you are in at IUB already, then fire away and send in your room reservation deposit and lock it in. Congratulations. Sorry you didnt get into Fordham this time around. As you know, admissions can be strange creatures. Been there, done that.

knight: You are blessed to get in with those SAT scores. However, your application is compelling on other grounds, clearly and your fight to the finish also likely played a huge role! Congratulations! Now, the hard part comes! Fordham is hard work. So come prepared to work extremely hard.

The others above, particularly those with high STATS:

Congratulations! Fordham is a fabulous school with really good opportunities. I strongly encourage you to visit campus for the accepted student orientation in a few weeks. Its vitally important that you see the school and feel the vibe! Don’t be overly influenced by rankings of other schools you may be accepted to. Fordham accepted you because they want you. There are many, many students at Fordham with stats like yours and who are doing extremely well. I can assure you that you will be challenged and have outstanding opportunities presented to you, as well as having a really good time.

i got waitlisted today, can’t believe this cuz i thought it wouldn’t be so hard to get in

sat1: 1410/2060, sat2: math2 800, chem 760 gpa:around 3.5(not good, but not that bad though), excellent essay

this is just ridiculous…

wow rayc0702 i think you should have been accepted. but did you have and EC or work besides your good sats and gpa. maybe that could haven been a factor. just speculating here. im just saying you should have gotten in.

ACCEPTED!

woot :D

i had two jobs before, being on varsity basketball teams for two years, got an scholarship from the Art Student League of New York, and a few other activities…nothing spectacular but again, not horrible…

what really makes no sense is that i also applied REALLY EARLY (Your Choice Application)

My S received his acceptance today! We’re in Calif.
SAT 1: 2070
GPA: 3.8 W
Good Essays, Decent ECs

wow rayc0702 i would complain as you have better stats than some of the people on this list and frankly you have the right to be mad, your exactly what they want it terms of credentials. you should call them up and ask for an explanation for the decision they gave you.

thanks javaid91, your inputs are really sincere and relieving=] but i guess i wouldnt even bother to do so cuz i’m already very disappointed…at least i have some other schools to go so its not the end of the day for me

Ray have AMAZING credentials but also they need diversity soo is not only based on grades. Like i have a friend that got much lower SATs than u but she speaks 4 languages, is international and lived in many countries…Its also about LUCK.

well I’m a minority(paki) and i also know 4 languages (Urdu, Punjabi, English, Pashto) and i have a widow as a mom so diversity wasn’t considered in my case. i wrote all this on my resume and essay.

well, talking about diversity and ethnicity, i’m chinese and i’m trilingual(mandarin, cantonese, english)

guess i’m just totally out of luck…

hi, i’m just wondering how everything works if you applied to LC, got in, but are now seriously considering switching to RC.

acceptedddd!

I applied to fordham as my financial safety…and also because it was in new york and because the business school was pretty good. it lost a lot of spots in the businessweek rankings for this year though x[

ya i saw it drops a lot in busineesweek ranking, why is that? it was 27 last year and now 41 lol?

It lost spots on Newsweek’s list because that magazine ranking had a lot to do with jobs/employment after graduation and they know that Fordham has a stellar record of getting kids into wallstreet firms and they PRESUMED Fordham would be hurt really badly with WallStreet blowing up last fall. Wrong! First of all, a high percentage of Fordham CBA kids go on for their MBA’s and very prestigious schools, including Fordham’s MBA program. (Note: Fordham has an MBA campus in Beijing as well.) Some go onto Law School, including Fordham’s highly ranked Law School. And many go into business, both in hedge funds, mutual funds, I Banking firms, and all sorts of industry. Fordham has a HUGE number of companies that recruit on campus. Why? Because they know Fordham kids are well rounded, grounded, have an exceptional work ethic and are even better people!

So before you break out your Newsweek and USNWR and follow the “prestige” rankings in making your college selections, I strongly suggest you visit Fordham, talk with kids, talk with the fabulous faculty (after researching their amazing credentials online), and look at the big picture.

Fordham is extremely well connected. Did you know, for example, that Fordham has an exceptional and extremely highly regarded Honors Program in American Catholic Studies, which is a grooming grounds for Fulbright, Truman and Rhodes Scholars? That this program is interdisciplinary and can be combined with many, many majors and is also open to CBA students? Fact.

Dig a little deeper, people, than magazine rankings, please.

Congratulations to all of you on your admission to Fordham. Its a fabulous school and you won’t be disappointed. Even if your SAT scores are north of 1500/1600.
