From the website - In Early Action, students apply early and receive a decision well in advance of the University’s regular response date. Early action is a non-binding (students are not required to enroll if admitted) application plan. Our deadline is November 8. Decisions will be received by December 20.
@CAMidwestMom 18 more days to get the decision. I’m so anxious right now…
@fiona1997 Hopefully it’ll go by quickly with all of the stuff going on right now. Do you have finals coming up? My son is waiting on four EA decisions. I think he is more stressed about possible merit aid than anything and he doesn’t expect much, if any, from Fordham. That said, he doesn’t know about the likely letters, which is a good thing. Hang in there!
@Fiona1997 @CAMidwestMom I am crossing all of my fingers and toes for you and our kids! My D is also waiting on 3 other EA apps (one ED) and a second state university. I am a very anxious person and it is so hard to not ask her everyday if she has checked her accounts!
And yeah…the finals thing. Ugh. Idk about you guys, but D’s are the 17th, 18th, 21st, and 22nd. Really hoping for good news because of the timing with exams.
@carchivist My son will be done on 12/18. He tends to be really negative about his prospects, which has honestly held him back in some ways. I think things will go well for the kids here in the end. Having the info from these types of forums helps with making good choices I think. We applied to one additional school based on info from here. I only wish I’d been reading here for much longer.
@CAMidwestMom we won’t have our finals until the end of January. I am having a really hard time since I’m waiting for 3 EA decisions (Fordham, Northeaster, and Bard) and preparing for one more SAT and one more English Proficiency test. And also I have bunch of projects that are due before Christmas break.
It amazes me the amount of work that kids are doing in addition to working on test prep, essay writing and otherwise researching colleges. I feel like in some ways college will be easier! At least in the beginning. Here’s hoping for good news for your @Fiona1997. Yesterday my son said ‘I’m probably not getting into Northeastern right?’ so I know he’s preparing himself for that and would be shocked and very happy if he did get in.
@Emilyskates - I wouldn’t read too much into no likely letter. Perhaps they are considering you for one of the coveted Honors Progam scholarships for top-top students. Your stats fit the bill. Good luck.
@CAMidwestMom I remember that about 2 years ago Northeastern had relatively easy admission. Last year they had a 30% admission rate which shocked me. I don’t think I can get into Northeastern…
@Fiona1997 I am sure you will have good choices and make a good decision! It is hard to get it all figured out, but you obviously have worked hard and that will pay off. In a sort of annoying twist, we got yet another email from Fordham financial aid saying that they are working on his app to the Gabelli School of Business and in receipt of the CSS profile but in the meantime, please read the financial aid checklist and make sure to complete everything. Tempting to write a snippy response asking if this replaces a Likely Letter… but I am a mature woman and will vent here instead.
getting sort of worried…
34 act, 4.0 gpa, strong extracurriculars, no likely letter…
@CAMidwestMom I think they are thinking about accepting him otherwise they wouldn’t bother to confirm the financial aid material because he has to be qualified for acceptance before they can give him the aid. Good news!
Did anyone else receive the financial aid material email? I did but I just thought it was sent to everyone who applied…am I wrong?
@jillian17 I also got the email. I think everyone did.
@jillian17 I received it as well but it’s identical to the financial aid email they sent in mid November (before the likely letters were sent out) so I think that everyone who applied got it.
@ParksAndWrecked @emilyskates figured…thanks!
Yep, got it.
I have heard that Fordham is doing a rolling admission type process before December 20th. Is there a reason for this? If you check their twitter, students have already been admitted. Do you think students will get in sooner than expected?
My daughter applied EA and received an email advising her of her acceptance on 11/23. GPA 4.0, SAT 2080
