I think you will be deferred and in late march when its time for them to make their decision between waitlist, rej, acceptance it really could go any way. It all depends on the applicant pool because you are right on the edge. I would show a lot of interest if you want to attend. Good luck, I hope you do get in... if you have any questions about fordham feel free to ask.. im no expert but I can give you advice about certain aspects.

well how do i show more interest, does it help that i am not applying for financial aid, and that i got the choice application?

If you are deferred, you can send fordham a letter explaining that you would like very much to attend ... also send them any recent awards that you may have earned ... an extra letter from your guidance counselor...an extra teacher rec....these are just a few suggestions that friends have done once they were deferred... also, with fordham, a great way to show interest is through the essay. since fordham is a smaller school, they are able to take more time with each app. and thus a great essay can sway their decision. it might be late for that now, however, writing a great essay is a good suggestion if you ever want to send them an extra essay/letter in the future.

thanks alot of that happens i will look into it...on another note, does the choice application mean anything? And is me being catholic and not wating financial aid help at all?

Oh, and i applied to rose hill campus... if that means anything

Not needing financial aid unfortunately won't help... being catholic is not going to be a huge boost but it could be a small one-- fordham has a few connections with catholic schools so if you go to a catholic schoool that will definitely be in your favor. the choice app. I honestly don't know that much about but if they sent you one, I'm assuming that could only be a good thing. fordham is a difficult school to get into, however, they accept most of the students that are qualified (unlike harvard where they reject nearly all qualified applicants)..judging from your stats, you're right on the edge regarding "being qualified" however, an extra essay, award , or whatnot will help greatly..

of course... if you're accepted, then you have nothing to worry about. haha.
good luck.

You have good stats for Fordham. Like a lot of colleges, Fordham is a crap shoot and they are stingy with money, so I think that not needing it would help. That's the number one reason that students that love Fordham don't go. I'm far from an expert, but I know a couple of students there and have met parents that have students there. I also read their live journal around April for acceptances and talked to my GC about my chances. (also did the choice app) Pretty much, Fordham accepts and rejects as many 1200 SATs as 1300+. I met one girl that had 1330, good EC's, etc. catholic school and got waitlisted. Her friend had 1230, 1 good EC, catholic school, and got in. I also talked to someone with 1280 stats that was offered the honors program, loved it, and is a junior now. They usually like 1300-up for the honors program, but if your verbal is high, you can have less. But since their stats are rising, things might change yearly. As another poster said, Fordham does seem to like letters because they tend to be a match/saftey for many, but not the number 1 college they want to go too. If money is not an issue, and you get deferred, a letter from you and your GC can help a lot. Good luck! Hope we both get good news in a few weeks.

Thanks a lot! great info..If i get in i am 90% sure that i am going there so if i get waitlisted or deferred i will be sending multiple letters. Good luck BRJ!

Do you think I have a chance of getting in to Fordham?

I am a transfer student.

High school gpa: 3.4
college Gpa: 3.75
SAT I: 1060 (horrible, I know)

started my own non profit group to raise money for inner city schools
tons of leadership roles and EC
Cross country and track team every year in HS

excellent essay and letter of rec.

ok well i did end up gettin deferred..i want to write them a letter, but i have no idea how to do so without sounding desperate.

AH! I just got an acceptance E MAIL today. is that weird? Did anyone else get anything by email? I feel like..its a trick or something.

aselig...or anyone else..do you know much about LC social life? ive been told that it sucks and that nobody is friendly and stuff. is this true?

I hope it's not true. I honestly don't think so, there's always the stereotype that people in Manhattan are mean, really they're not. I don't know if you live in NY or not but I do and really, if all the rumors about LC having mean people have to do with the rumor that NYers are mean, then I really wouldn't pay much attention to them.

oh no, I know that rumor and thats not what i mean. I spend most summers in manhattan (babysitting) and go there at least twice a month. Ive heard that fordham STUDENTS are not nice there because alot of the are commuters so they dont spend much time there. i read a bunch of student reviews that said that its impossible to make friends at the LC campus. Every one i read about LC was bad. I WISH it wasnt true, which is why im asking someone to say "no! LC is great! I go there!" etc.

my friends go to rose hill, and they like it. LC is different, apparently.

I'm pretty sure if you're dorming, it's not that hard to make some friends. Are you dorming?
