Fordham freshman housing

So, I'm really considering Fordham as my school (I'll be able to make a decision as soon as I see how much financial aid I get). So, I know that I'll have to make a decision on housing. I'm just wondering what the best choice for freshman housing is. I know that I've heard that Hughes Hall is fun, but I have no idea what it looks like inside.

I was wondering if someone could describe or even provide a website where I could look at all of the housing options for freshmen.

The housing information goes out after May 1. You have many choices including special learning centers. You make your choices by preferences. Queens, Tierney, Hughes, Alumni North and Alumni South (those have been renamed this year to honor a donor.) The new dorms are for upper classmen. Hughes will be converted to house the College of Business Administration very soon, and they are raising 30 million for that conversion as we speak. No bad choices, just different choices.

If you’re into substance/alcohol-free housing then you might want to consider Queens Court. That’s where I will probably dorm if I go to Fordham. You have to write an essay to show your commitment to staying sober though. I hear it has a great sense of community and they go out on like dorm trips for bonding and stuff.
If that does not interest you, there are plenty of other options, but it’s not like alcohol/drugs are allowed anyway. You will probably find a community in any of the dorms.

Actually that sounds like something I’d be interested in! Do you know where I could find information on that?

My S was in Queens Court and it was a great experience (but it isn’t for everyone). The main options for freshmen are:
Queen’s Court - wellness dorm with a lot of extra activities (see second link below)
Tierney - which also has a special program where you take some classes in the dorm. Dorm was recently updated. The negative of Tierney is that this dorm is on the opposite side of campus from other freshman dorms. (see link below)
Alumni South and Loschert (formerly Alumni North) - typical freshman dorms with double rooms and hall baths.
Hughes - This dorm has large quad rooms. Reputation for being more of a party dorm. Not sure if this dorm will be in service next semester as it will be rennovated and turned into a home for Fordham CBA.
Martyr’s - typically a sophomore dorm with small double rooms and hall baths. There is no official word from the school, but I wonder if some freshmen MAY end up here if Hughes is closed. Again, not sure what will be.

You can call ResLife with any questions. In the meantime, here are some good websites from Fordham to check for freshman housing information:
