I am a junior who really loves Fordham. The problem is that I live about 20 minutes away from the university (in Manhattan though) and I would love to have college housing. Is this possible? Do they give housing to students living so close by?

If you use the Common App you will be asked if you want to live on campus. There is also a question on the Fordham Supplement as to whether you would consider an offer of admission without housing. We also live within commuting distance and my S checked yes. He applied to LC and would prefer to live on campus but doesn’t want to be rejected for lack of space.

I’m wondering when you hear if you got housing. Do they let you know with your acceptance letter? Obviously, we are still waiting for a decision and praying for good news!

I am within commuting distance and I was accepted and guaranteed four years of housing. I selected yes for living on campus and no for considering admission without housing.

monoclide, congrats…LC? Did you hear with your acceptance letter?

Thank you! I applied Early Action to Lincoln Center. The first paragraph of the letter is the invitation to join FU, the second strokes my ego, and then the third was about housing, concluding in “Your place in our residential community is guaranteed for four years.”

Yes, they tell you about housing in the acceptance letter. I think you’re more likely to get it if you checked that you wouldn’t accept admittance if not given housing, but that depends on the strength of your application as well.

I applied as a transfer student and got housing. I think it all really depends. Just try to put down that you want housing and also put yourself on the waitlist.
By the way, I will be living in Walsh this coming semester. Any opinions on it?
