I just got an email a few days saying that I got into the honors program at LC, which was really exciting because I hadn’t been expecting it at all. I’ve seen some people talking about it in different threads so I figured that it would make sense to have one centralized thread to discuss it.
To start off, is Fordham particularly generous with scholarships for Honors program kids? I really want to go to Fordham, but I can’t justify it unless I get significantly more than the $15,000 minimum with the Dean’s Scholarship. I know that it’s really just guesswork until FA packages come out on 2/1, but I’d like to get an idea from anyone who’s had experience with it.
Also, I know Honors students get a different core that lets them skip a lot of the core classes. What makes the honors core different from the regular core?
Finally, any other kids who got accepted to the LC honors program for 2020 should hmu so we can chat
No guarantees and this is from 2012 and I haven’t asked all 18 of us but at least 3-5 of the people in the Honors Program I know do not pay tuition, including me.
Let me know if you have any questions about the program.
My daughter got free tuition because she was a National Merit Finalist, but we still had to pay room and board.
My main worry is that I was literally one point short of the NMSF cut off in my state, so I’m scared that I won’t get full tuition because of one question on one standardized test I took more than a year ago. I turned in all my forms, though, so hopefully I’ll know for sure by 2/1.
I also got into the Honors College at Lincoln Center! I was really excited, but unfortunately, they haven’t given me enough money yet! Still hoping though. I am hoping I can negotiate for more! They are my favorite
hi i got into the honors program at lincoln center too! i also only got the $15,000 dean’s scholarship, even though i’m a national merit semifinalist. i’d absolutely go to fordham if they offered me more money though, so hopefully that’ll be the case when financial aid packages come out.
@heyojano I wouldn’t worry about it! Same thing happened to me, and my final FA package was more than double what they said originally. I would recommend waiting until mid-April to commit, though, because they actually increase aid even more before decision day. Good luck!
