I was accepted into both. For NYU I got into the social work program, but I don't know if I really want to do social work, and you have to reapply to get out of it, whereas at Fordham I can try out different subjects before I decide what to do. I know NYU is considered a better school though and I don't know what the social scene at both schools are like either, so I'm kind of torn...any input? Thanks

Fordham’s Social Work program and graduate school is one the best programs in the country.

I recommend, actually, a liberal arts major as an undergraduate and a Masters in Social Work. One such program is the Curran Center for American Catholic Studies Program, which is very prestigious at Fordham and considered an Honors Program, by invitation of the faculty. You don’t have to be Catholic to major in ACS at Fordham. It encompasses many areas of study including history, theology, philosophy and sociology. Its honors students routinely take prestigious internships and fellowships in social justice non profit organizations. But it is based out of the Rose Hill campus.

Fordham doesnt require a major declaration until sophomore year and after taking the core requirements.

Fordham offers a lot of internships in social service without being a social work major.

You can also major in Urban Studies.

Have you visited the schools? The campuses are very different. NYU is all spread out. We were told that all the places freshman have to go are within an 8 block radius.

At Fordham, everything is in two buildings, side by side. My daughter really liked Fordham better, she liked that it was basically a campus in the middle of the city.

I applied for NYU msw program and got accepted, but I also got accepted to the Fordham school of social work. I don’t know which one to go to. Please advise.

Fordham’s Grad school of Social Work is ranked 11th in the nation (US News and Word Report), not sure of NYU. Visit both and see which you prefer. FWIW while there are different schools of social work in NY (Adelphi, Hunter, NYU, etc.), the the schools with the most recognition is Columbia and Fordham
