fordham (lincoln center) vs. St Joseph's Univ. in Philadelphia.

anyone have a pro/con list?

anyone?? i need help.

Fordham has a MUCH more famous name. Both are excellent Jesuit schools where you'll get a great education.

As a local, St. Joes is decent, but Fordham beats it by a nice amount. Better academics, research opportunities, and environment.

really? how about penn state, i got in there as well. also applying to villanova too

it depends on whether you want a smaller private school or a huge public school, and if money is a big factor. Are you in-state for PSU? because I'm wondering why you applied there along with a bunch of private schools.

It also depends on whether you want to be in/near Philly or NYC.

i like NYC better than philly, but i was not impressed with the location of fordham (the area was a little dicey)...

ive never even visited penn state, just heard good things, applied and got accepted. im from new jersey.

If you got accepted to penn state-university park. I would go to PSU-UP out of the other schools. I would then choose Fordham next. PSU-UP is a good school even though its a big school.

is psu-up better than villanova?

In academic rankings (apply grain of salt...) yes. In terms of social life, 98% of people would probably say yes to that as well (large greek scene and student activities, plus football) . I'm from PA so I'm not sure about PSU out of state tuition compared to Villanova but I assume it's a decent amount less. Also the term Villa-no fun doesn't sound too endearing to me

not so sure which is better. I guess if you want a bigger school and watch football its PSU-UP lol. its a hard decision, matters what you also want to major in and the tuition i guess.

majoring in economics. the tuition isnt a problem. im considering applying to fordham as well, but im unsure yet.

does anyone know what the lincoln center campus is like?

I was accepted EA at fordham. I visited LC and it was alright. It is NOT a traditional campus for obvious reasons. You can't beat the location. I didn't visit Rose Hill campus, and thats where my major is offered. If you want to be in the heart of the apple.. go to LC

last year PSU wouldve cost me 29K OOS, significantly less than nova..however i think for undergrad nova is better...as for fordham vs st joes, i would go to psu over either of them

Help!
For a good mix of good academics but fun too, which school is best???
Max

For academic rep, Fordham is definitely stronger than St. Joe’s. You could go into St. Joe’s Honors program (and very likely receive major merit money). For a campus, St. Joe’s is clear more attractive and safer. You are near Philly, but not in it. You can therefore access Philly’s benefits when you want, but you are always safe on and around campus.

If you ultimately want to work in NYC, Fordham will is much more potent.

If it matters, Fordham’s sports (hoops) teams have been miserable/wretched for the last 3-4 years. Supposedly, a new era has just started for basketball.

Did you visit the LC campus? Either way, both campuses are very safe. Like at all colleges, if you do not roam the streets drunk at midnight, your safety may be called into question. But assuming that you have some sense, you should be fine. I personally prefer the LC campus. I would advise you to re-evaluate Fordham LC based on your tentative description. However, I am not too familiar with SJU.
