Hey! So I am trying to decide between going to Fordham Lincoln Center and Tulane University. I am interested in psychology pre med, but I also have interests in history and theater. I honestly don’t know where to go, which is crazy because they are so different. However, Tulane is more of a traditional college experience whereas Fordham LC is a lot like my high school: small and different. I like the academic flexibility of Tulane, but the internship opportunities that are in New York are hard to pass up. If anyone could give me any insight I would really appreciate it.
My son visited Fordham LC. He liked the internships and the city life. Campus life is small and intimate. He was considering the business program. Access to Manhattan was great. It is classic college experience vs access to one of the cultural and artistic capitals of the world,
Cost? Do not incur massive debt. Go with environment, fit. At Fordham I believe you can take some classes at the main campus as well, if you need more normal mix.
What’s your parents ’ budget ?
What’s the net price at each ?
NOLA is a major city and about half Tulane’s student population comes from the northeast; I don’t think internships (most of which take place over the summer anyway) would be a major differentiator as you’ll easily find them in the South or in the North as it’s a nationally known university.
Beside costs, the main question you should ask yourself is if you want a 'traditional campus or not, in a community of young people, or integrated into the city.
Personally I’d pick living on a college campus - you can only go to college once and you have your whole life to live in a city.
With merit aid at both schools and travel expenses, the price of both schools is basically the same. Thank you for your insight
I hate to throw in more options, but if you want a traditional campus with easy access to NYC, you could consider asking admissions to switch you to Fordham’s Rose Hill campus. As long as you are not a theater major, it is a good option.
And both schools are great, but they are different IMO.
