Son received acceptance via email few days ago.

I’m really freaking out because I didn’t get an email. I was really hoping I would have a strong chance at Fordham. My GPA is 3.73/4.22W with a 32 ACT from Texas. I am applying to the GLOBE program… Could that have derailed anything? I’m really worried…

thawowtso, threads like this allow a few people to celebrate (perfectly legitimately), and cause a whole lot more people to freak out. As you no doubt know, your test score is in the top 25% of incoming freshmen, your GPA is just at the threshhold of the top 25 – you do indeed appear to have a strong chance at Fordham. Who knows why these folks are earlier-than-early admits? Hang in a couple more weeks. You can do it.

(Moments like this remind me how glad I was that D1 spent her senior year in Germany, where no one knows, understands, or cares about holistic admissions or U.S. college craziness  )

Thanks for your words! You’re right… But man just one acceptance letter would make me feel better among rejections. Cause then I’d atleast know I’m in such a good school like Fordham.
I’ll keep telling myself four more weeks… Four more weeks… Four more weeks

Thawowtso, I’ll make you feel even better. My son has a 4.0 G.P.A. and a 33 ACT score. He is a National Hispanic Scholar, has many extra-curriculars, and to top it all off , my sister and I are both graduates of Fordham. And he still hasn’t heard. Many of his fellow classmates with much lesser stats have already been accepted. It is very frustrating to say the least. Go figure.

Oh! Wow. This might sound terrible, but that does make me feel better, but only because your son is a shoo-in and will, and should, be accepted. It’s a mystery all right, but thanks for your response. I’m going to take a nap and just let it slide- nothing we can do about it now!

Yes, Thawowtso take a nap and relax. You should be hearing good news before long. Best of luck!

I received an acceptance email, and then letter in the mail. I am confused---- do we have to fill out FAFSA? I was not applying for financial aid.
Also, when will we find out about merit aid?

I received a free application from Fordham that is why I applied. Received acceptance but wondering if my family has to fill out FAFSA. My family does not qualify for financial aid.
10 APs, 2320, 4.0 uw GPA, top 1% rank, average ECs.

You dont have to fill out FAFSA. That is only if you want to be considered for financial aid. It is not tied to merit aid and it is not necessary if you are not seeking financial aid.

Actually, I think that you do have to file a FAFSA in order to receive any merit aid or scholarships, even the NMSF scholarship, even if you know that you will not receive any need based aid. I strongly suggest that you get in touch with the fin aid office or the admissions office and double check on that.

Mompom is correct. You need to fill out FAFSA for merit scholarships and they do adjust the amount of the scholarship some what based on need (there is a range of awards within each scholarship). You also need to fill out FAFSA each year to retain your scholarship, and than accept it online to have it applied towards your tuition.

@airforce - You don’t need to fill out the FAFSA yet. You can be awarded a merit scholarship without filing the FAFSA. However you will need to file the form in order to collect the scholarship. So if you don’t qualify for aid, you can wait and see if you do get merit aid before filling out the form.

And to further all of that, its only required if you ACCEPT a scholarship and enroll at Fordham. If you decline and go elsewhere, its not necessary.

And Fordham also as CSS…it’s a pain but it’s only one year
