Consolation
I was born and bred in CT; was a Catholic school boy but chose Fordham over Georgetown because it was a better fit.
I’ve never had a reputation issue with Fordham; the name is known up and down the east coast; and even in Europe. That is my personal experience. The Society of Jesus (the Jesuit Order) was founded in Paris in 1534 by Ignatius and his band of merry companions who were probably the first true globalists.

The Jesuit University system is among the oldest in the world and students from Jesuit universities can benefit from this global network that has no counterpart in the Ivy league.

I guess we have two different experiences with the name.
McGill has an excellent reputation among those in-the-know about academia; however, ask your local Stop and Shop manager which name he/she’s heard of more often.
