Fordham or McGill? And, better to be well-rounded or "spiky"?

Thanks Boom! That is PRECISELY what I was saying.

STARBRIGHT

What decade ?

And Fordham is highly regarded on Wall Street and in the Advertising world. Pick up a Who’s Who’s in business in Manhattan. The former CEO’s of Pfizer and Schering Plough were Fordham graduates. And when it comes to theater, it holds it’s own. In general, it is a name that real city people recognize and respect.

It’s been my experience that most people who do not regard Fordham highly generally don’t know anything about it. I have often found that the Fordham naysayers have limited knowledge about American higher education, even though they tend to espouse the opposite.

Consolation
I was born and bred in CT; was a Catholic school boy but chose Fordham over Georgetown because it was a better fit.
I’ve never had a reputation issue with Fordham; the name is known up and down the east coast; and even in Europe. That is my personal experience. The Society of Jesus (the Jesuit Order) was founded in Paris in 1534 by Ignatius and his band of merry companions who were probably the first true globalists.

The Jesuit University system is among the oldest in the world and students from Jesuit universities can benefit from this global network that has no counterpart in the Ivy league.

I guess we have two different experiences with the name.
McGill has an excellent reputation among those in-the-know about academia; however, ask your local Stop and Shop manager which name he/she’s heard of more often.

Montrealer here.
Mcgill is great ; but for residents , especially those of Quebec but also those of Canada, its quite ‘‘easy’’ to get into the less competitive programs. Seriously, except for Med and Law, its not that hard…All my friends who applied got in to the programs of their choice, a few in Med and a couple in Law. And for us, its virtually free.
For internationals, I know it is more competitive to be admitted but I also know that they basically almost exclusively focus on scores for admission. Best GPA and SATs get in out of the list of applicants.
For Can. students from other provinces, they calculate your average from your 6 best classes and that counts as your ‘‘admission or scholarship average’’. For Quebec kids, its this CEGEP cote R story…
