Fordham Questions - CBA

Hey all. I’m considering Spring 2008 transfer into Fordham. I’m also in the middle of completing my application. I do have some questions, ranging from simple to a tad bit complicated.

How do you pronounce Fordham? Is it Ford-ham or Ford-hum.

Is the religious affiliation of that school similar to that of Brigham-Young? I like a little bit of diversity.

I understand internship numbers are around 80%. Are there notable recruiters that come around campus?

How is job placement? I’m looking for a career within New York City and I don’t want it to

How is financial aid there? I will be need-based and could require all the help I can get.

In comparison to the Kelley school of business, do you believe Fordham ranks up there wit Kelley? My two choices for the spring are Kelley and Fordham.

I’m also considering the likes of UNC, Georgetown, NYU, Ann Harbor for Fall 2008. My stats aren’t as impressive, but do you believe I should say if I get accepted? I understand its my decision, but some advice would be great.

Nice questions. I’d love to know as well!

i can answer some…

thats not all of them…but there you have some now.

1 - superstarr567 is right, it’s ford-um.

2 - Fordham is nothing like Brigham-Young. I haven’t met a student who isn’t open-minded. Comparing Fordham to Brigham-Young is like comparing a Holy Cross to Grove City.

3 - Yes there are huge recruiting fairs twice a year. If you want an internship, it’s not hard to get.

4 - Didn’t quite understand the last part of this question, but job placement is really good. If you graduate from CBA and are good about pursuing a career on Wall Street or in Midtown, there shouldn’t be much of a problem.

5 - Fordham is just like most other private schools w/ fin-aid. They say that they’ll give you what you need, and there are merit based scholarships, but of course, the packages seem to be lacking.

6 - Don’t know anything about Indiana’s Business School, cant really compare it to Fordham.

7 - Can’t really answer this one either. It’s your decision, pick the school you feel most comfortable at.

Regarding Indiana University - Indiana has a great business program, but it will never have what Fordham has - location. It’s common knowledge that New York is one of the financial capitals of the world, and Fordham’s location provides a great opportunity to land internships. Since Fordham is in New York, it has an extremely large alumni network in the area that is also helpful when looking or a job/internship
