Dropped my S off on Saturday for his 2nd semester. He was absolutely giddy to be returning to Fordham LC!

I don't recall anyone with any connections to Fordham posting in the forum last year when we were going through the process so if anyone has any questions, please feel free to PM me as I don't check in on this forum so frequently anymore.

Also posting a link from a visit last semester with Dan Lauria, currently starring in Lombardi on Broadway. He said he had such a good time with the students that he will be returning to Fordham this semester for a master class!

Best wishes to all prospective students! :)

WOW! Thanks for the post!

I am applying for Fordham LC as well!
Do you know what exactly they are looking for when applying for Theatre?
How long does it take to hear a decision?
How did your son like the audition? What was it like?

You do not have to answer all these questions, but I appreciate your help!

Hi, Olivia.

This is a hard question and I’m not sure I can really answer it. I would guess that they are looking for talent, intelligence and fit into their program. There isn’t any one particular type that they accept…just be yourself and don’t try to be who you think they want you to be!

In early March, my S received a letter (yes…it was a SMALL envelope!) from the Theatre dept informing him that he was accepted and would receive the official package by the end of the month. It also gave him the date of the Spring Preview in April for the accepted students.

He auditioned on campus and they were already running late even though it was about 10am or so. But this was the last on campus audition before they went to Chicago or San Fran or wherever they were going. They told everyone they would only be hearing one monologue and he chose to do his classic monologue which turned out to be from a play that they had done fairly recently and my S’s acting choices interested them. They DID ask him to do another monologue but didn’t like his second choice so he did something else. I think he also did a part of a third monologue for them. They worked with him on everything that he did to see how he took direction and adjusted. Then he was sent to another panel where they did the same. There wasn’t really an interview for the Performance majors…he actually did get to interview though for the Playwriting major.

Fordham was my S’s first choice school and he did like and feel good about the audition. They auditioned around 600 or just under and accepted about 10%. It is possible to be admitted to Fordham academically even if rejected from the Theatre major and also possible to then minor in Theatre without auditioning OR to audition again at the end of Freshman year, but it is harder to get into the program that way. Fordham mainstage productions are only open to Theatre majors and minors but I believe there are other student run productions that cast outside the department.

Break a leg! :)

Thanks for the detailed info, sandkmom!

Thanks for that info. That is a great link!
