nothing has changed today… what else is new. im probably going to call sometime this week…

Yeah i really think you should contact them. Nothing was happening with my application until i emailed kara stone so if i were you i’d call tomorrow and find out whats going on

what do you think i should say coto? what if shes like… may/early june.

I have not said anything for a while.

I received another packet from Fordham today with an envelope to send deposit and a transfer evaluation. There was not mention of a deadline though so I’m not sure how fast I have to act on my deposit if I choose to go. I am also waiting on other schools.

I can confirm that resident student means housing. It clearly states it on the paper I got today.

Also, I was just wondering if anyone has committed to Fordham. I’m waiting on bc, bu, and northeastern but I went to an accepted student night and I’m really leaning towards Fordham after it.

Hey there again, guys.

After contacting Kara Stone last week and saying that I needed to be hearing soon (because of my other schools’ deadlines), I just received an email today - I’m accepted at Lincoln Center!! But unfortunately, no housing. I’m going to be contacting the office of res life at lincoln center tomorrow and talk with them and see if I can get some more information on if it’s even in the least bit at all possible for me to get housing. …I sure do hope so!!

I hope everyone else hears soon. And if you haven’t yet, I strongly suggest giving Fordham a call because it seemed to work for me! Good luck!

that really sucks jenny! do you think thats because you told them you only have until a certain amount of time for other schools or because you think that there really is no housing… if you can get back to me asap with what res life says that would be awesome… because i wonder if you got it because you told them you needed an answer soon you no?

@coto: my transfer credit evaluation sheet was disappointing. It only said I had 6 credits transferring, I’m assuming its because of the strict core curriculum. If I become more interested in Fordham I’m going to schedule an appointment with the dean at RH to see if I can get more credits to transfer over, but for now I’m still waiting to hear from 4 more universities.

Ok… well thats not good news. I took a bunch of intro classes this year so hopefully those will get transferred over. Fordham is the only school i applied to so if it doesn’t work out well im going to have to call and schedule a meeting with the dean. What classes did you take and which ones got transferred over?

I also got my transfer evaluation today. I applied as a Junior (Its my 2nd year at CC) and I was given 40 credits with another 9-10 still not counted because I have not completed this semester yet. So it is possible to get most of your classes transfered. That said I did stick to a course schedule for UC applications and talked to my counselor almost 1 every 3 weeks.

Although I wish I had been given more credits I still think Fordham is where I will end up.

@ Coto: The courses that Fordham definitely will award transfer credit for me were Logical and Critical Reasoning (Philosophy) and Intro to Psych. I spoke with Kara Stone about how concerned I was with the number of credits I had transferring in and she said that was just her personal estimate of the courses she definitely knew would transfer. (So I guess she filled out my transfer credit evaluation sheet herself?) She said it is likely to be awarded more credits when 1. They receive my final transcript with my spring grades and 2. After I make an appointment with the Dean of RH to speak about my specific courses and bring a copy of my transcript and course catalogue from my current university.

Well that makes me feel a bit better. I think a bunch will just be counted as electives though. I’ll just have to wait for the transfer evaluation and see what Fordham gives me

you guys are all talking about transfer credit forms and i havent even heard yet !! this is very depressing. i just want to find out

Im also hoping to transfer to LC as a soph this coming fall… I applied in early march and then sent an email to Kara Stone on 3/23 to verify that they received all of my documents. She told me that all of my documents were in, but that they will need to see my spring semester grades before they can make a decision.

This is nerve racking, but I guess the fact that they have not rejected my application already is a good sign. I will have completed 24 credits at community college with a 3.6 gpa in about 3 weeks. Can anyone help me estimate my chances for acceptance?

@srivera: Im sorry that this process is being such a pain for you. I know how it felt when i was waiting. I seriously think you should call today and hopefully that will speed up this process.

@nyyankees: If you have a similar gpa for this semester i would assume you would be accepted. But again i can’t judge that well since i am coming from a state university and was accepted with a 3.3 gpa from just my first semester. While gpa matters, the admissions committee looks at your grades overall. While i had a 3.3 gpa that was due to the fact that i got 1 C in science, which has never been a strong area for me. Other wise i had 3 As and a B, with the As being all in history and political science, my major. All i can say is make sure you do well this semester, especially in the area you want to major in. Also, since you have yet to hear you could email kara stone asking if there was anything else you could do to strengthen your application. I said that and maybe 40 mins later i got my acceptance. If Fordham sees that you are interested then they will be more likely to accept you

@lefthanded4life

I recommend that you verify that the resident housing you were offered is on campus. I recall last year that a transfer was very unhappy to get to Fordham and discover that the housing was actually in an off campus Fordham community. That might be perfectly fine with you but I think it’s the kind of thing you want to know before you commit. Good luck to you and to all the other transfers waiting for decisions! :)

nyyankees – wow thats weird! i wonder why they need those… i havent been told they need my grades…

same. they never asked about my 2nd semester grades. It might be a hint at how your chances are looking so like i said before, i would make sure that your grades were good for this semester

nyankees what r ur stats? besides gpa

@coto – i just called and left kara stone a message… hopefully she calls me back soon.

@srivera- they are not very impressive…terrible highschool grades and a 1650 on my sats

Im hoping that the admissions officers will consider how extreme my recent transformation as a student has been and give me a chance.

@coto-- My first semester I only had a 3.1 but that was because I got a D in math. I had 3 A’s and a B in my other classes. Plus I retook that math class this semester and have an A. I plan on finishing with a cumulative 3.56 cumulative gpa.
