I’m a sophomore at a state college(out-of-state) and I’m looking into transferring to Fordham(Lincoln Center). I’m applying as a Math major so that I can go for 3/2 Engineering Program. I currently have a 3.4 GPA. I was wondering if the cooperative program is doable for a transfer student. Is it advisable to state that you’re interested in the 3/2 Cooperative engineering program? And with a 3.4 GPA good extracurriculars/essays/LORs, how competitive am I?
I’m currently at Columbia through the combined plan. I think it’d be difficult to meet the requirements of the 3-2 program after transferring into Fordham. I’d contact Dr. Poor at Fordham if I were you.
It’s a very hard program to get through. Very packed schedule trying to fit a Fordham Physics or other related major in three years and get excellent grades in intense courses to get into the MA Engineering program. It may not be possible for a transfer. However, all schools like to entertain transfers because they have seats open from students who left. They are not getting any tuition for those seats, so they are generally transfer friendly. You’d really have to be up front about your desire for the Engineering 3/2 program, because you’ll need advisement, as there won’t be a minute to waste. Good luck.
