I called Financial Aid and asked when I could expect to get our FA info. She told me “in the mail sometime in April.”

That is unusual that they accepted her, chicklets, and didnt enclose a financial aid preliminary offer, subject to tax forms being submitted etc. Did you forget to submit something?

I would call back tomorrow and speak to a different counselor, and tell them your daughter is accepted and ask where it is and why it was delayed. In any event, you should have everything by April 1, and that would give you until May 1 to accept or reject.

My daughter was also admitted without FA offer. The letter said “early April.”

A lot of cool, unique things. Touring as a lead frontwoman and raising $25,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charity with a group of top 2% (double audition only) nationwide musicians. Successfully leading my band to win a spot performing in the Bamboozle Festival (largest East coast festival). Initiating, creating, booking, and performing in hundreds of performances. Countless charitable performances, as well as organizing a huge concert for Habitat for Humanity. Frontwoman of many different elite, audition-only academic music school groups. Trained and certified to educate young kids about ethics and diversity. Member of some school clubs, including Gay-Straight Alliance, Drama Club, and Newspaper Club. I write a column on feminism and ethics in the school newspaper. I’m also a fine/graphic artist, creating posters for many community events. I may be forgetting a few things…!

I live in Northern NJ. When should I expect to hear back from Fordham?

I live 30 min from Fordham, in NJ still waiting? Does this mean i will be rejected?

If anyone from NJ is accepted please post your stats!

From Long Island,
Noone I know has heard anything!! This scares me!!
Anyone from Long Island hear back yet!!!

If i live in NJ and havent gotten a letter does that mean I am rejected?

Mail delivery is not perfect. I’ve known a letter to take a week to go to another address in the same town. Don’t assume any result based on failure to receive a letter on the first day.

I live in NJ and was accepted. It could just be the mail, don’t panic yet!
I applied to Lincoln Center for film, 3.9 GPA 1800 SAT, tons of film EC.

Got my acceptance letter today in CA. Got $22,500 merit. Probably won’t be attending though.

readytolearn:

Congratulations! May I ask why not? Its a fabulous school and the education you get in New York is a real plus in your life.

Feel bad for my D. Fordham is #1 pick and still no letter, not looking good. 3.7 uw gpa, all honors and AP classes #7 in class. Deferred from Ea and now her friends are hearing from Fordham and she has not.
So sad when many apply and have no intention on going. Not sure I like the ease of the common app!
Congratulations to all, Fordham is a beautiful school!

I live in pa…should I hear soon?

Sent from my Droid using CC

meksevin…don’t give up hope. What is your daughter’s SAT score? Number 7 in class? 3.7 UW gpa? That doesnt sound like a rejection or waitlist to me. Something amiss here.

Same thing here. We used the Fordham app. which they waived fee. Apply ED, deferred. 3.7gpa, 30 superscored act, 10 essay. Visited three times. Sent an email of intent after deferral. Really disappointed in the process…Love Fordham first choice.

SAT 1780 (standardized tests not her thing). Visited 3 times on record including Lincoln ctr. Numerous other visits to campus. Emailed admission rep saying top choice 2 or three times even had a great reference from a top alum! just feel bad as my D says… "I did not work this hard for four years to go just anywhere! Fordham has a great rep and I worked hard for it! Who knows maybe our mail carrier is playing a joke. Firm believer in what is meant to be is meant to be…

Okay. Thanks for sharing.

The simple truth is that with 33,000 applications, they have to make decisions for those on the bubble. And I am NOT a fan of SAT/ACT scores. I think they are a gross and grave disservice to millions. I know kids with high SATs who cant think outside the box…robotic rote memorization and that is it. I know kids with good but not stellar SATs and very good to excellent GPA’s who are brilliant and a credit to any institution they attend both in terms of what they contribute in class as well as campus life and character. The cold reality is college admissions are anything but fair…they are quirky. Every single year.

You have done what you can and expressed strong interest. Fordham’s average SATs are rapidly on the rise and the CR/Math section is now approaching an average very close to 1300. They will get to an avg. of 1350 likely in five years or less. Five years ago an 1150 might get you in. Today? No.

However, its still early in the week and perhaps good news will yet come. They mail in batches. But you should know by Friday or Saturday latest.

Keep us posted, and sending my best wishes. (Other acceptances as a fallback?)

thanks for input! I have three more to go so I better start SAT prep work NOW!!!
The fallbacks are far from #1 choice but it will all work out!
