Hi I’m a NY resident and I got accepted to both Hofstra and Fordham. I’m looking to do pre med (major in biology) which school would you recommend for bio and why?
Which ever school you like better after visiting. They are pretty much peer schools.
Visit, check out the dorms, the food, sports facilities, then decide.
Fordham is absurdly expensive and aid is not great.
IMO they are not peer schools. Fordham is the better school. However, Hofstra does have a med school and Fordham does not (you need to see if Hofstra takes its undergrads into its med school in large numbers). You need to research how students from both schools do in terms of med school admissions. I would also factor into your decision the cost of each school as well as any other attributes that are important to you.
They’re in two very, very different neighborhoods.
Fordham is in the Bronx. I’ve driven though the general neighborhood, but don’t know enough to comment intelligently.
Hofstra is in the suburbs. By train it’s about 40 minutes from NYC. It’s 20 minutes from the beach, 5 minutes from the mall.
