D is already accepted to PACE and Marymount. She audtioned for PACE and recieved an email that she is still in consideration for MT. She also got a nice scholarship. She did get through the second Panel at Fordham Lincoln Center so we hope that's positive news to come as that is her first choice.Marymount is this weekend and we have mixed feelings on the program /location etc.
Please share your views if your choices were Fordham, PACE, Marymount. My D does act sing and dance but wants a BA in theater for flexibility.

My D checked out both Fordham LC and Marymount and felt there really was no comparison. She also checked out Emerson in Boston, which has also has a good program, but it is not in NYC which really was a deal breaker. We felt that Fordham offered much more for her, academically, and would challenge her more. It really depends on where she feels she would fit in better. I would suggest you look at the stats of the accepted students from last year and see what matches her background the best. Even though Fordham LC is a smaller campus than, say, NYU, Marymount is even smaller, so if your daughter is looking for a more intimate setting, that could be a plus. We didn't check out Pace, so I can't comment on that. I personally was very impressed with Fordham's approach to education and philosophy. What could be a down side, depending on what your D is looking for, is that Fordham has a very specific curriculum, with pretty specific requirements. I don't recall MM having such strict requisites, but I personally liked that this will force D to have a very well-rounded education. It could be a turn-off, though, if your D doesn't want to have to take all those courses. As far as location, both schools are in great areas, but if your daughter is nuts about theater as mine is, of course Fordham is closer to the theater district and of course Lincoln Center. One other thing to take into consideration is that MM's dorm is about 15 blocks from the "campus" which is not really a campus, whereas Fordham's dorm is right there next to the classroom building, and, an added plus for us (we live in the south and are not used to seasons or cold weather) is that you can travel from building to building at Fordham without even going outside. Much different than having to travel 15 blocks from the dorm to the main building for class. Also at Fordham you can take classes at the Rose Hill campus as well and there is transportation between the two campuses. Again, this may not be relevant but I like the idea of having another campus that is easy to get to.

Thank you. Those are all of our thoughts to the letter! My D LOVES Fordham LC and her stats do match in the mid 50% so I hope that is emonugh. Waiting until April 1 is rough! I wish we could know if she is cleared academically before the department desicision because then she would even minor in theater. We are probably passing on Marymount due to the housing situation. It's not really a fit for her academically. I agree they have to be well rounded and challenged academically. Fordham is the goal!I s your daughter attending now or is she a prospective student? Did she audition for the theater department?

My daughter was accepted EA and as that was her #1 top choice, we sent in the deposit right away. It is such a relief to know where she will be next year. She will be majoring in communications and is thinking of minoring in theater. She is very active and involved with her high school theater program. Feel free to private message me and I'll give you her email address. You can also go on the Facebook group Fordham 2013 and check out those posts. A good friend of hers got accepted to NYU, Tisch so that is very cool that she will have a good friend there. We checked out NYU and both felt very strongly it was not a good fit for her.

jptmom...my D got accepted to Fordham Lincoln Center to the theater program! I'm posting everywhere as I am so relieved! Thanks for your input, now I will sleep at night! She will be minoring in communications. I'll get my D to look at the Fordham facebook page! YAY!
