I will be a freshman next year and I was accepted to Fordham (Rose Hill), Eugene Lang College, and Pace. I'll be majoring in Political Science.

Pace gave me the presidential scholarship for $20,000 and I did not receive any merit money from Fordham or Lang.

I live in southern California right now but I really want to go to NYC for college. I visited all three schools with my parents, and I really liked the "campus" feel of Fordham, but my parents are concerned about the surrounding area.

Fordham is definitely the most presitigous of the three schools.

^^^ I agree. And I am a student at Rose Hill. Like any urban area you have to be smart, but for the most part if you don’t walk around alone and drunk in the middle of the night you will be fine. Arthur Avenue is a great asset and there are wonderful opportunities to do community service in the area. I have found it to be the best of all worlds – a beautiful campus, places to go in the area, and easy access to Manhattan.

My D graduated from Fordham several years ago and now works and lives in Manhattan. As she grew up in a very small town, you would think that she would be intimidated by the Bronx. Not so. Fordham is in a diverse, exciting part of NYC (Arthur Ave., the Zoo, Botanical Garden), has easy access to Manhattan, and-to top it off-offers great study abroad opportunities and a first-rate education. She maintains a great network of Fordham friends. Of course I’m biased, but I consider myself fortunate enough to have been able to invest in D’s education. I believe it was worth every penny!
