Fordham vs. Stony Brook in science

Which school has the stronger program and is more reputable overall in the sciences? (Chem, Biochem, Bio, mainly)...

What about Rutgers vs. SBU?

Stony Brook is quite strong in the sciences. At my high school, it's often the choice of students doing research to go there and intern for a summer or so. They have first rate labs. Just read Wikipedia's first paragraph about the school:

"State University of New York at Stony Brook (SUNYSB), also known as Stony Brook University (SBU) [1] , is a public research university located in Stony Brook, New York (on the north side of Long Island, about 55 miles east of Manhattan, New York). Stony Brook is the second highest ranked of the four universities in the State University of New York system, and has an enrollment of more than 22,000 students. The University operates two SUNY-wide research centers (the Institute for Theoretical Physics, and the Marine Sciences Research Center). The University also operates Brookhaven National Labs under contract from the U.S. Department of Energy."

Although there are kids in my son's graduating class going to Princeton, Cornell, Tufts, Williams, Wesleyan and Haverford the three geniuses of the class are going to Stony Brook. They are already actively engaged in research there.

One sister of my spouse attended Fordham and the other sister attended Stony Brook. The one who attended SB wanted to go pre-med at the time, and SB seems to be reputable in that area. As for the school's themselves, I would definitely choose SB over Fordham if you are in-state and $ is a concern. I don't think anyone should pay a premium for Fordham if you can save money by going to a SB.

Money isn't an issue (its actually irrelevant). I am pretty sure Fordham is mainly good in Business/Law, while SBU is mainly good is science. I just wanted to confirm this. Thanks for your opinions/advice. I am set on going to Stony Brook anyway (sent my deposit in) for Fall 07...curiosity remains though, not that I regret my decision

Anybody have opinions on Rutgers NB vs Stony Brook science?
