Fordham Your Choice Application

Alright. So I am a current freshman at Fordham University at Rose Hill and I too received and applied with Fordham’s ‘Your Choice’ application. The main reason that Fordham sends these out to so many students is to raise their application numbers, mainly. So, if you inquired or asked for information on the school, you most likely received one of these applications. Fordham wants to up their numbers to make it seem like they have to turn down more students, thus making it more “competitive” to get in. Its basically a marketing kind of scheme but a lot of colleges do it.

I’m an average NJ student that got this, with a 3.00 and a 1710. I am a candidate for the nrotc, so maybe it’s from that? Idk, but I’m gonna fill it out tomorrow.

My 3 children received one and we visited, wrote and they took the SAT in May Junior year. Drew also gives out a free application if you show interest it seems.

Oh yea, and I’m Jewish. Why the hell did I get an invite for a catholic school? Haha

Fordham accepts students from all religious backgrounds. It is also absolutely not in their mission to “convert” non-catholics. So many students who are jewish, hindu, muslim, athiest, protestant, etc. come to fordham and can experience a Jesuit education while still practicing their own faith.

I’m pretty sure the your choice application is sent out to kids who took the psat, sat, or got on a list somehow. I’m very interested in Fordham but I don’t have exceptionally high scores, not a merit finalist or any of that, I think it’s just to encourage more people to apply so that they can say they are a more selective school.

I didn’t take the PSATs, didn’t submit my SATs, and I live in California, but I did sign up for the newsletter/undergrad information. I’ve also been getting these sorts of applications from several other schools in the mail. Ones of which I never looked at, or even intended on going to.

I’m assuming it has to do with the newsletter or by simply having a collegeboard account?

You have to send your SAT/ACT with this application anyway so it’s impossible to conceal scores. I just called the admission’s office yesterday to ask. I hope I get accepted with a sweet financial aid package. I could use some more safeties on my list.

Did this happen to anyone else?

I filled out the Your Choice Application and then submitted. I looked at the PDF preview and the counselor forms and the section on Senior Coursework was blank. I don’t really remember this being a part of the application, however. Was it? Or did I miss it?
