I'm a rising senior in high school and i would love to go to Fordham but i need some opinions! Okay so quick stats:
-I have a 2.9 (unweighted) GPA and a 4.29 (weighted) GPA.
-I received a 1650/ 2400 on the SAT's which I will being retaking this fall.
-Taken mostly all honors and GT/AP classes
-I have tons of extracurriculars!
*Varsity Tennis, Class Senate, Ministry Team Leader (For Church YG), Indoor Colorguard, Vacation Bible School Teacher, P2P Ambassador, LeadAmerica, Editor-In-Chief of school newspaper, Soon to be editor of school yearbook, Part of a Korean Traditional Instrument Performance team, Student Council, Asian American Club, Quill and Scroll Honor Society...
-I will also be interning at Girl's Life Magazine in the fall
-I have initiated a Key Club chapter for my school and that will also be starting in the next school semester.

-I know my GPA is really low and not to give a sob story, but I have been through a lot over these past 3 years, especially because i was diagnosed with diabetes.

So, what are my chances of attending Fordham? And any other suggestions for schools?
Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Fordham is a grea chool, butbased on your #sa reach. You woud need ot do a big increase ih your SAT’s and hopefully continue(?) an upward trend on your grade.

Apply, but hedge your bets.

Think about other more realitic schools a alternatives. (If you ae from NYad want a good Catholic school, think about St. John’s, or Siena upstate).

Umm are you in the top ten percent at your school? Because if you are, that could help ALOT. You may want to consider taking the SAT again if you have your heart set on fordham, get it to maybe an 1850 or so (or at least a 1250 in math and CR). If you can do that and your class rank is good then id say you have a good shot if you write some killer essays

Thanks for the advice guys,
I’m in the top 20% -_-;;
But I heard writing essays on things like diabetes and etc are depressing and college admission counselors don’t like it?

Hey jjang
It sounds like you have great rigour - admissions officers will be happy to see that risk taking over a high gpa. What you do have to work on is the SATs (I have to aswell this summer to get into my dream schools, so we’re in the same boat :p) in order to get admitted.

Fordham and Emerson are both reaches at this point (is ED an option if you still aren’t comfortable with your scores and are set on Fordham/Emerson?), but it is very plausible to turn them both into matches.
St. Joseph’s (in Phili, correct?) is currently about a match for you, but once again if those SAT’s increase it will turn into a safety. :)

Im not too familiar with Fordham, but I wanted to thank you for chancing me. I always second guess myself when i read everyone else’s profles, and its nice to hear some good news. thanks

also thx for suggesting u of maryland to me, i think its good school but chances of me getting in seem kinda low cuz im out of state
do u think i should just stick to uc’s or consider other state colleges too?

just a girl: I have a 4.29 weighted because i take all honors and AP classes!

Lemonio: Thanks for the tip!

DuckPondParent: Well i wouldn’t mind being locked in because it’s my first choice and i wouldnt have to wait for like 923041 years rattling my brain to see if i got in or not, but thanks for the clarification!
