Hey I'm thinking about applying to Fordham University but I wanted to know Fordham's Reputation around the US. For example, if I go for an interview in California would they know Fordham University? I know it's reputation around the northeast is very good, but I wanted to know what the rest of the US had to say about Fordham.

bump bump bump

well i live in CA and until I looked at schools in the northeast i had never heard of it, so I don't think that it's that famous all over the U.S., but I'm not really sure.

Very limited name recognition outside of New York/New Jersey/New England. You should not, however, attend a school based on name-recognition. You should see if it meets your academic needs, and if the campus is a "fit" for you.

It's quite famous and respected among Catholics. Also famous among older people, who remember when Fordham was an athletic powerhouse. Also known by anybody who reads much Hemingway--in The Sun Also Rises, there is a scene where the characters discuss colleges, and Fordham is mentioned in a flattering way.

Its more of a regional school with its core strength in New York.

I live in CA and I've heard of Fordham... but that's because I'm Catholic and both my parents went to Jesuit Schools

Thanks for all your responses; I would have thought it had a better reputation since they always talk about it in NYC. I wonder what happened to there sport teams.
