I was just talking to my guidance counselor and he told me that most top schools recommend four years of a foreign language. However, I plan to have three years of Spanish because I can't fit it into my schedule of classes that includes AP Comp Sci and AP Stats (which not many people take). Would this be bad for me? Should I just take a fourth year of Spanish even though I'm interested in other things?

BTW, this is how my Spanish education has gone so far:

9th grade - Spanish 2

Summer school before 10th - Spanish 3 (I am told colleges look at level of foreign lang)

German. I take French because I used to live in Canada and French was mandatory there, so I just continued with it. It's okay too, but I don't think that French is the most useful language.

Actually I have a question about this entire thing, slightly off topic sorry. I was wondering should I drop spanish next yr (spanish 4) and take an extra math or science course? What do you all recommend?

If that's your passion, I suppose it won't hurt. Depends on what colleges your interested in too, I'm guessing.

NerdyUSCgirl: Do you know where I can do that and how time-consuming and difficult the course is? (Since I will be taking an extremely difficult courseload next year)

The three most useful languages imo are: Chinese, English, and Spanish. German, Russian, and Japanese are also good languages to know. Compared to these others, French is kind of pointless...
