Foreign lang pass/fail

Hey guys I have a really important question,

most colleges require 2 yrs of a foreign language and recommend 3 years.

Do the 3 yrs have to be sequential and do pass/fail credits count for the required foreign langs for college admission?

I have taken French 1 (B) in 8th grade, then I took French 2 on a passfail freshman yr (P), then I took spanish 1 soph yr (P), and took spanish 2 for a grade jr yr (Cplus)

How many foreign language credits for college admission would I have and since I took spanish 2 for a grade does taking spanish 2 for a grade almost erase the fact I took Pass/fail for spanish 1.

Like do any college dont count pass/fail for foreign lang during high school because its a "P"?
As in my situation would it matter i took spanish 1 for pass/fail because I got graded in spanish 2?

Pass/Fail aren't integrated in your GPA. Also you have to take 3-4 years of at least 1 single language. You jumped around a little.

I know pass/fail doesnt count for gpa and its not required you have to take 3-4yrs of a single language.

Anyone got answers to my original question????

flyinghigh89 you can take either 3-4 years of one language or 2 years of one language & 2 years of another

yes, but the pass/fail aspect I mentioned above, how will it count in the requirements? And since I took spanish 2 as a grade, it makes up for the pass/fail aspect of spanish 1?

No it doesn't, Spanish 2 doesn't make up for Spanish 1's Pass/Fail option.

As far as I know, adcoms care about level of language. So even if you self-studied language up to the fourth level of it, took class and end up with reasonable grade you're good.

Not true, because some schools have it up to spanish 2 or 3 and then dives into AP. You just have to take it 3 years minimum, but I recomend 4 years of 1 language. taking more than 1 language continuously is also very good.

Yeah, I guess spanish 2 for a grade doesnt make up for spanish 1 pass/fail, but it still counts for 2 credits when meeting credit requirements for college admission doesnt it?

for eg many schools have required 2 ys recommended 3 yrs or w/e.

If you got the credit, I don't see why they wouldn't accept it.

hmm yeah, but does anyone know a lot about the pass.fail stuff in hs in terms of foreign lang?

No, most people have the normal grading system.

Um, most high schools I know of don't require you to take a foreign language.

Whatever high school / college you're going to / planning on going to should accept it, because they just require a credit. You still get the credit, even though its pass/fail. Ask them though to make sure.
