I was in the process of applying to SFS for Intl. Politics because that is my main interest and that is what I want to do as a career. However, I noticed in the viewbook that a foreign language SATII is required for all SFS applicants. I am fluent in Russian, which is my native language, but there is no SATII for it. I have taken 3 units of Spanish at my school, but it is by no means adequate to take the SAT II (yeah, our Spanish dept. sucks). I couldn't take the 4th unit because the class was offered same time as AP Calculus both semesters. So am I really screwed or what? I know that transferring into SFS is really hard.

I would suggest just attaching a letter from your guidance counselor or something explaining your situation with the Russian and the spanish/AP calc conflict and just make sure u emphasize ur desire to study international relations/foreign language in your essay....im sure the SFS would be willing to accomodate someone fluent in russian...there's nothing wrong with attaching a little explanation of something like that so the admissions committee gets a complete picture of you

I don't think it's required, but I think it is ultimately used for language placement.

I'm not sure how it will work for you, if you are a native speaker. I don't know if you'll have to take a new language or not. That's something I would call admissions about.

Yeah, I'm 99.9% sure it's not required.
