If I happen to test out of the first two semesters of Spanish into Spanish 231, will I receive 8 hours of credit for those two semesters if I get a B or better in Spanish 231? In other words, would I end up with 12 hours of credit by getting a B in Spanish 231?

You don't get credit for placing out of classes.

well...i got 8 credits of HU/SS for placing out of spanish

Umm...what?

You can apply to get 8 retroactive credits if you place out the language requirement after completing another uper-level course, but even then it doesn't mention anything about getting distribution for that.

The way I read it you get 8 retroactive credits if you place into Spanish 231 and get a B in that class. Is that correct? Does anyone know if the credit carries over to Ross B-School?

edit Ok, I got this down now. If you place into 232 and complete that class, you're eligible to earn 4 retroactive credits for spanish 231. If you place into something higher than 232 and take another spanish class, you're eligible for 8 retroactive credits for both 231 and 232. Unless you're a native speaker, or something like that.

Thanks, Dilsky. I'll be lucky to place into Spanish 231, so it doesn't sound like I need to worry about it.

i guess the engineering school does things differently
engin > lsa

You mean you get 8 hours credit for placing into Spanish 231?

i placed out all together...if u place into 231, u get 8 free electives...if u place out, u get 8 HU/SS electives

Just so you know, the spanish test sucked. It was awful and I did horribly on it. I still placed out of all 4 semesters. If you have 3-4 years of language under your belt, you'll probably do fine.

Congrats. Was there a lot of vocab on the test? If so, I'm screwed, I only remember grammar.
