**Foreign Language Credit Question**

So my school likes to accelerate foreign languages. I'm a sophomore right now and I'm taking Chinese II, although my school and teacher allows some students to take Chinese IV who are really good and have a decent average (which I do). My school also offers Chinese III, but it won't offer AP Chinese. My question is: should I jump up to Chinese IV and have an extra schedule slot my senior year, or should I stay with Chinese III/IV so I can technically have four years of a foreign language? Does taking Chinese IV in junior year make it seem like I actually took four years, or do colleges only think I took three?

Also, I'm Asian-American (but I'm not a native speaker. I can't even speak my native language xD)... would this situation look bad if I accelerated?

well I’m in spanish 4 in sophomore year (not native speaker) and from what other people have told me my understanding is that it should be like 4 years because you have the proficiency of someone who has taken the language for 4 years, even if you haven’t actually taken it for the 8 semesters. Almost all colleges require only 2 years, and they will just assume that you’re to the level of someone who took it for 4 years.
