Foreign Language IGETC

If I use my spanish classes from high school and that satisfy the IGETC requirement, does the grade that I had gotten count towards my community college GPA?

I would usually give someone a sarcastic answer, but I know how stressful and confusing this time can be. My mind is constantly spinning a bunch of “WHAT IF” scenarios so I know exactly how you feel OP.

The short answer is no though. Your high school grades are with your high school GPA, your Community College grades are with your CC GPA, and your UC/CSU grades correspond with your UC/CSU GPA.

No. You simply get credit for them (assuming you got at least a C or better).

I believe you need 1 year of Spanish to get credit for them at a CC. 1-year of High school Spanish is worth 1-semester of CC Spanish.

Wait, will a CC give you actual college credit for two years of high school language? I thought you were just exempt from the language requirement for IGETC purposes, is this correct?

@ sockhermom: you’re correct that if you took 2 years of a foreign language in high school, you’re exempt from the language requirement for IGETC purposes.

2 years of high school foreign language (with a "B"grade or better) satisfies the foreign language for IGETC, but you dont get any unit credit and it doesnt get considered in gpa.
i used my 2 years of hs french for igetc.

OK, thanks all!!
