I just recently looked at the 2013 Freshman Requirements and I'm a little freaked out. It says under CAS that three years of a foreign language are required. Last year, I had to leave school after first semester due to health issues (I attended virtual school). I was able to finish my second year of Spanish through the virtual school, but since I am going to a different public school this year (with a much more rigorous foreign language curriculum), I have decided not to continue with it. Does this mean that my application is going to be shot down immediately? Cornell has been my top choice for a long time and I'd hate to have one year of Spanish jeopardize my chances.

Requirements are requirements. I’m not aware of CAS being flexible with this requirement. Maybe it’ll work out if the guidance counselor at your new school says you weren’t qualified for languages there when you transferred.

“deficiencies should be explained in a letter accompanying the application for admission”

Looks like you might need to send a letter.

If you’re looking at Cornell u better have the hardest classes… Not doing Spanish just cuz it’s hard will look really bad!! you gotta remember that Cornell is a ivy league…
