Foreign Language (Latin) for Beginner

I'm an incoming freshmen at Duke and I'm planning to take Latin. How difficult is it to take a new foreign language at Duke? I don't have any knowledge about Latin before. I took 4 years of Spanish during my Junior & Senior HS and I would like to try a different language. Is it beneficial for premed student? I also heard from CC that Duke FL department is a hit & miss thing. How about Latin? Do they have a good profs?

I'm a Classics major and know a bit about Latin offerings. Four people will be teaching Latin 1 in the fall (Ward, Muntz, Cline, and Wolkow). Whatever you do, DO NOT choose Muntz as an instructor. Cline is full, but I've heard good things about him. I don't know much about the other two, but at least I haven't heard anything bad.

The first year of Latin can by iffy, depending on which instructors you choose. Most of the Latin professors after that (Boatwright, Richardson, Zarker) are very good.
