ok. so I really don't want to take a foreign language. I've taken up to spanish 3 in high school and recieved A's.

I don't understand why at berkeley you don't have to take it if you've taken 3 years in high school... should i just sign up for a community college spanish 1 class? or is the test really not that bad.

I honestly think you have a better shot at passing out of spanish if you take the exam. If you take the two unit class you'll probably still end up taking spanish regardless if it gets you out of the exam. It couldn't possibly cover one year worth of spanish for being only two units. If you take span 1 at a community college most likely you'd still have to take more spanish classes to finish the requirement (which would be up to spanish 3.) Seriously, you should just take the exam - see where you place. The worst that could happen is that you have to take the classes (that you're already willing to take at the community college level) again. Best case scenario - you pass out.

do you just straight up walk into the media lab during anytime and take this? i don't get it...cuz i'm just about to finish my 1st year, and i wanna get this requirement done next year or something but don't know whether i have to come for orientation (which would be horrible) or whether i can do it another time

is there a grammer portion on the FRENCH exam? also, i called up the orientation office and they told me that as long as i speak another foriegn language i'll be fine for any other language exam. however, i cannot write chinese, thats the problem...

yes, there is definitely grammar on the french exam. fill in the blank with the correct verb form, etc.
yes, that's the section that bit me in the butt and kept me from passing out of french. STUDY!!! do not make my mistake!!!
