Anyone have any experience with these tests, specifically in Spanish? How difficult are they? What is focused on: grammar, vocab, or lit? Anywhere I can find examples questions or does this test need preparing? Sorry for so many questions.

Thanks

Easy easy easy. A portion of the test is reading comprehension, and some is listening, but everything is pretty straightforward and you'll be allotted MUCH more time than you'll need. You'll also have a number of "which word fits in the blank" questions where you'll have to recognize some vocab (shoe versus shoe store, for example) and conjugate some verbs, but as long as you have a basic understanding of when to use different tenses, you'll be fine. Everything is multiple choice. Don't sweat this test: if you do badly, the only result is that you'll be in an easier Spanish class (albeit one that might meet five times each week).

thanks melanie! How hard are the Spanish (im assuming) classes at WashU? How demanding are they?

I took 307 this semester, and I found most of the grammar to be pretty similar to what I learned in AP Spanish, with (as usual) a few new details to each familiar rule. Stricter grading was used on compositions, but that's probably a reflection on my high school Spanish program and not the Spanish program at WashU.
