Hey everyone,

Has anyone taken the foreign language placement test yet? I'm studying for Spanish but I'm at a loss on what I'm expected to know. Will it be similar to an SAT II test or an AP exam? Will we be timed? Will it be mostly reading comprehension or will listening or even writing be involved? Will we be expected to conjugate verbs or translate words/phrases? Is it multiple choice or fill-in-the-blank or short answer? How many questions are there?

Anyone who remembers the test, please help!

I took the placement test (although I haven’t taken the SAT II or AP test) and I thought it was relatively easy. The first part is listening and answering spoken questions, and the second part is a combo of reading comprehension and grammar questions (I don’t remember any translation questions, just grammar and verb tenses). Both parts were timed.

But it’s all multiple choice, so don’t sweat it.

I am trying to review my verb conjugations. Would just the basics (past, present, future, imperfect, subjective present, pluscuam, conditional, gerundio, past participle, commands) be enough? Or do I have to go into the more complex ones too (subjunctive imperfect, subjunctive future, subjunctive pluscuamperfecto, subjunctive present perfect, subjunctive future perfect)?

the grammar is both basic and complex. i thought the listening was pretty difficult, because the lady speaking spoke rapid fast. but the reading and the grammar were pretty straightforward.

Shoot… haven’t taken Spanish in over a year… and I certainly don’t want to take any more languages in college. I’m going to assume that it’s similar to AP style.

k, I just took the audio and it was ridiculously hard.

hahaha don’t worry. it was hard for all of us :D

are you allowed to retake it? I really want to get out of doing the foreign language req. I’ve done spanish for 4 years during middle/high school, but not senior year, so im a bit rusty

so what verb tenses do we need to review?
