Foreign language placement testing.

I´m in Revelle and I wanted to take the Spanish placement test, since I´ve taken classes up to Spanish 4 but never took the ap test. How is it?

What should I study for?

Don't study for it. Just take it. You don't want to get stuck into a class that you aren't ready for, particularly in foreign language.

But how difficult is it?

can a placement test take u out of a foreign language GE?>

Yes. Which is why I´m asking.

It´d be nice to skip 4 quarters of a class no?

oh well in that case, im very happy

Gah, foreign language is the DEVIL. Alot of people are going for Chinese language classes though, I guess it'd be useful if you deal with Chinese businesses if you go into that field.

the foreign language test is REALLY easy...i dont know why ur stressing out over it..

i took 3 quarters of Japanese at a CC. and I think the GE wants four? that's just sad.

but the SAT 2 counts? yes?

i wonder if there's a japanese placement test?

Im in the same boat as you cupoftea (took foreign language at community college)

If the units you took at the CC are showing up in your academic history, do a degree audit and see if it satisfied the requirement.

eh dont worry about it, its really easy.

can you get out of it w/ a 3 or better in a foreign language AP test??

3 gets u out of 3 of the 4 classes in ERC, a 4 gets u out of all of them.

awsome hopefully ill get a 4-5 in span next year

ha..........

IRAN.4 it doesn't matter if that test was hard for you; it's likely and frankly probable that poloruler23 is better at Spanish than you are.

That test actually isn't bad if you come from a decent high school with a good AP Spanish curriculum poloruler23, so don't worry too much about it :) But knowing that you need that 4 or 5 will be a good motivator throughout the year!

Actually I took french and I request jm0407 to be banned

I get the odd feeling that not many are going to join your cause, IRAN.4

Um. Okay if you didn't even take the Spanish test, why did you reply to what poloruler23 said? What knowledge could you possibly have about a test you had nothing to do with if you can't even keep the simplest and most straightforward facts about your own college education straight?

And lol somewhereonearth XD

Well, since no one headed my warning from earlier, I'll put in my two cents.

I can't really say for Spanish (since I took the French test) but the placement tests aren't really that difficult. As I recall, the French exam did not even test on the subjunctive. And since the placement tests are developped by the same department, I would bet that the French and Spanish exams are pretty similar in difficulty.

Does anyone know if it is possible to even test out of a 4th year language through the placement test? There was a girl in my LTFR 2A class that tested into it, but she was perfectly fluent in french. So from the looks of it, I don't think its possible to get out of GE requirements fully through the placement test...
