During Pre-Registration it was a possibility to take a foreign language placement test IF you are planning on taking foreign language.

I hate foreign language, i took it in high school and did fine, but i'd prefer not to take it if i don't have to. I'm planning on getting a business degree with a concentration in marketing and later choose a minor from one of the other colleges.

Am i going to have to take foreign language? Am i going to have to take it in my freshman year? Should i just take the placement test?

Thank you :)

I don’t know if language is required for your major, but if it is you probably wouldn’t have to take it as a freshman. Might as well wait to take the placement test until you know you need to take the course.

From my understanding. If you are going in as Arts and Science BA you need 2 language classes BS you dont have to take any. The placement exam is just to place you, I believe you still have to take the 2 classes (unless you have AP credit coming in)

So if I’m not supposed to pre-register since I’m undeclared, I just don’t have to take a placement test? I am very interested in continuing with Spanish. I’m guessing that they’ll just have to trust me that I passed the AP Spanish exam when I go to orientation in June?

Oh sorry to confuse you, if you want to continue with Spanish and get into one of the higher level ones you will need to take the placement test. The placement test is ONLY to place you, not to get you out of the language requirement.

^Thanks for the answer! Do you happen to know if I take the placement test at orientation?

You take it online, I think they provide you with the link during orientation. If they give it to you before I am sure they will send you a message with it.

Thanks for the answer!

Make sure you print out your results page. Technically they keep your score on record somewhere, but when I started my french class, my teacher wanted us to bring in a copy of our score so she could check to see our level.

Thanks for the link!
