Foreign Language Question

Hey all, my question is many colleges I like ( UC, Ohio, Miami, Xavier ) and many other colleges require at least 2 years of a foreign language. What I wanted to is that since Im taking Spanish 1 can I take German 1 next year or do I have to stay with Spanish 2 for the 2nd foreign language year to count?

If you dont understand my question please tell me so I can help explain it to you better.

Thanks!

In most cases schools want you to take multiple years of one language rather thank taking intro. courses of multiple languages. But every college is different so you should check each school’s website. If a school does not specify, you can call the admissions departments and ask.

For UC[/url”>http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/freshman/requirements/a-g-requirements/index.html]UC, it is the level completed that matters (they have a “validation”[/url">http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/q-and-a/validation/index.html]"validation” policy where language level N validates language level 1 through N-1). So completing any foreign language level 2 or higher is needed to meet the requirement through high school course work, with level 3 or higher recommended. UC also allows high enough scores on AP and SAT Subject tests to show language proficiency (this is commonly used by native or heritage speakers).

Note that some colleges have foreign language graduation requirements that are greater than foreign language admission requirements.

Ok thanks guys, really helping with my question here, more to come

They want to see 2 (or more) years of the same language.
